Lyin’ Left Continues Assault on Trump After Dayton, OH Visit; Trump, White House Exposes Lawmakers’ Lies, Misrepresentations in Tweets

  • After visiting survivors, their families and first responders of the mass shooting in Dayton, OH, President Trump took to Twitter to vent his frustration over what he called “misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital” by Democratic Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown and Democratic Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley.
  • Trump didn’t go into specifics of what the lawmakers misrepresented, but tweeted: “Just left Dayton, Ohio, where I met with the Victims & families, Law Enforcement, Medical Staff & First Responders. It was a warm & wonderful visit. Tremendous enthusiasm & even Love. Then I saw failed Presidential Candidate (0%) Sherrod Brown & Mayor Whaley totally…..”
  • Trump continued: “….misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital. Their news conference after I left for El Paso was a fraud. It bore no resemblance to what took place with those incredible people that I was so lucky to meet and spend time with. They were all amazing!”
  • The reporters traveling with Trump and First Lady Melania Trump weren’t given access when the president met with victims in the hospital, so the White House released its own photos from the visit.
  • Trump tweeted after Dan Scavino, the White House director of social media, blasted Brown and Whaley on Twitter.
  • Scavino tweeted: “Very SAD to see Ohio Senator Brown, & Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley – LYING & completely mischaracterizing what took place w/ the President’s visit to Miami Valley Hospital today. They are disgraceful politicians, doing nothing but politicizing a mass shooting, at every turn they can..”
  • Scavino continued: “..The President was treated like a Rock Star inside the hospital, which was all caught on video. They all loved seeing their great President!”
  • Scavino didn’t specifically say what the lawmakers were lying about.
  • During the press conference, Brown said that the shooting victims in the hospital were “hurting” and “[Trump] was comforting. He did the right things, Melania did the right things. And it’s his job in part to comfort people. I’m glad he did it in those hospital rooms.”
  • However, both Brown and Whaley have been critical of Trump in the past “on issues like race and immigration.” Brown has referred to some of Trump’s rhetoric as “racist.”
  • According to Brown, he met Trump earlier on Wednesday and “said that he pushed the president to not repeal the Affordable Care Act and to make strides toward enacting stricter gun control laws.”
  • Brown said: “Republicans for years now have dug in and done the bidding of the NRA. The National Rifle Association, the gun lobby, gives millions of dollars to Republican candidates and spends millions and millions against Democrats like me that have stood up to the NRA…”
  • Whaley said: “The city of Dayton and the people of Dayton really are looking forward to some action. That’s what you can do to help us is to get some action on common-sense gun legislation.”
