Dems Try to Distract from Own Ineptitude By Bringing Ridiculous Impeachment ‘Effort’ Against Trump to the House Floor; Guaranteed to Fail, According to Experts

  • The House will vote on Wednesday whether to proceed with articles of impeachment against President Trump after Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas filed a resolution on Tuesday to begin impeachment proceedings.
  • Though the move is almost certain to fail, it didn’t stop Green from declaring on the House floor that Trump is “unfit to be president, unfit to represent the American values of decency and morality, respectability and civility, honesty and propriety, reputability and integrity” after the House condemned his tweets and remarks against four progressive female lawmakers of color as racist.
  • Green said: “President Donald Trump’s racist comments that have legitimatized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color. Donald John Trump, by causing such harm to the society of the United States, is unfit to be president and warrants impeachment, trial and removal from office.”
  • The resolution will unarguably drive a bigger wedge between the more progressive branch of the Democratic Party and the establishment like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi who has said repeatedly that she’s not ready to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump.
  • On Wednesday, Pelosi said: “With all the respect in the world for him [Rep. Green], we have six committees that are working on following the facts in terms of any abuse of power, obstruction of justice and the rest. That is the serious path we are on.”
  • The resolution would essentially make Democrats “go on the record about whether they support ousting the president from office.”
  • However, observers “expect lawmakers to get around a full vote on impeachment by referring the resolution to the House Judiciary Committee, where impeachment proceeding would have to start, or simply tabling the measure — effectively killing it.”
  • Trying to move away from impeachment talk, Pelosi accused Trump of trying to use distraction tactics and said: “We cannot buy into his fog that he wants to create over everything. You have to give him credit, he’s a great distractor and that’s what this is about.”
  • Green has “tried twice to bring articles of impeachment for a vote on the floor twice before but both times lawmakers, including Democrats, voted to table the measure.”
