Dems Plan to Grill Mueller on Instances of Trump ‘Obstructing Justice’ to Keep Up Collusion Hoax

  • Democrats plan to grill former special counsel Robert Mueller on what they consider especially “egregious examples of President Donald Trump’s conduct” as they look into specific incidents detailed in Mueller’s Russia investigation when he testifies on Capitol Hill July 24.
  • One of the incidents detailed in the Mueller report includes “Trump’s directions to White House counsel Donald McGahn to have Mueller removed and, later, orders from Trump to McGahn to deny that happened.”
  • Democrats will also question Mueller abut meetings Trump had with Corey Lewandowski, his former campaign manager, where he wanted Lewandowski “to persuade then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to limit Mueller’s investigation.”
  • Democrats believe these two episodes are clear examples of Trump obstructing justice and want to make the American public aware of what they consider to be troubling behavior on behalf of the president.
  • House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler said: “We will ask questions designed to elicit the information, designed to get the information out that we want, designed to show what his report found that is at odds with what the administration and the attorney general have been saying.”
  • Nadler also said: “As I said, to show that the 10 instances of obstruction of justice by the president, to show the repeated times where the president instructs people to lie to the American people or to Congress.”
  • “But the key is to get this, there has been — from before the report was released, when [Attorney General William] Barr gave that bogus summary of the report, there has been a deliberate campaign of lying and disinformation, as to what’s in the report,” Nadler said.
  • Nadler continued: “And it’s of supreme importance that people understand what we’re dealing with, and we can go on from there. I think it changes the ground that we’re standing on.”
  • Mueller will be questioned by the House Judiciary and intelligence committees in back-to-back hearings on July 24 that was originally scheduled for July 17.
  • An agreement was worked out to give Mueller additional time to prepare and allow more time for questioning.
  • Mueller has previously said he would prefer not to testify “and has insisted he will stick only to the contents of the report.”
