Latest CNN Poll Shows Kamala Harris’ Support Has Plunged to a Paltry 5%; Biden Remains Front-Runner at 29%

  • As former Vice President Joe Biden remains the front-runner among Democrats running in the 2020 presidential race, Sen. Kamala Harris has seen her support drastically plunge in a national poll that was recently released.
  • A CNN survey conducted by SSRS shows Harris with “5 percent support, down 12 percentage points from CNN’s last poll, which was released in June.”
  • After the release of the poll, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway posted on Twitter: “Kamala Harris plummeted 12 points from June to August, according to a new @CNN #poll of Democrats about 2020. Using their own logic and lexicon, doesn’t that make Democrat primary voters ‘racist’ and ‘sexist’?”
  • After the first round of Democratic debates in late June, “Harris saw her poll numbers surge after what was regarded as a strong performance,” which was “when she knocked Biden on his heels over his opposition to federally mandated school busing integration.”
  • After that debate, Biden saw his own numbers slip due to his lackluster performance; however, he “now stands at 29 percent in the new survey, which was released Tuesday, up 7 points from CNN’s previous poll.”
  • Biden is experiencing a double-digit lead in the poll that has “Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont at 15 percent and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts at 14 percent.”
  • Warren’s and Sanders’ numbers are mostly unchanged from the last poll a month ago.
  • Additionally, Mayor Pete Buttigieg is in a tie with Harris at 5 percent. The poll also has former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke at 3 percent.
  • The poll shows “Sen. Cory Booker, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro at 2 percent. Everyone else in the record-setting field of some two-dozen Democratic White House hopefuls registered at 1 percent or less.”
  • In a Fox News poll that was released last Thursday, it showed “Biden at 31 percent, Warren at 20 percent, Sanders at 10 percent, Harris at 8 percent and Buttigieg at 3 percent, along with Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.”
