After Biden’s Embarrassing Gaffe in Iowa, Trump Said Dem Isn’t ‘Playing With a Full Deck’ and Said ‘This Isn’t Somebody You Can Have as Your President’

  • Speaking to reporters on Friday, President Trump attacked 2020 Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden by saying that Biden isn’t “playing with a full deck,” and he would be thrilled to face-off with him in next year 2020’s presidential election.
  • Trump said: “Look, Joe is not playing with a full deck. He made that comment and I said ‘whoa.’”
  • A Biden campaign aide responded by saying: “Donald Trump’s deck is all jokers.”
  • Trump was referring to Biden’s gaffe on Thursday on the campaign trail in Iowa at the Asian & Latino Coalition PAC when he told attendees “that poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.”
  • Biden quickly corrected himself by saying “wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids.”
  • Trump went after Biden’s mental stability and said: “This is not somebody you can have as your president, but if he got the nomination I’d be thrilled.”
  • Trump also criticized Biden’s performances in the first two Democratic debates: “I watch the debates. I mean, well, Joe Biden can’t answer a simple question. Something is going wrong with him.”
  • On Friday, Biden’s campaign did damage control and said that Biden had “misspoke and immediately corrected himself.” The campaign was also quick to draw “a contrast between his comments and Trump’s rhetoric.”
  • Deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said in a statement: “Joe Biden has spent his life fighting for civil rights and the dignity of all people. The Trump campaign posting the video without the Vice President’s immediate correction is patently disingenuous — and it’s no coincidence this comes days after Joe Biden laid out how this president emboldens white nationalism and embraces racism.”
  • On Wednesday, Biden talked about Trump’s role in last weekend’s mass shootings: “In both clear language and in code, this president has fanned the flames of white supremacy in this nation.”
  • Biden continued: “Trump offers no moral leadership, no interest in unifying the nation, no evidence the presidency has awakened his conscience in the least.”
  • “Our president has more in common with George Wallace than George Washington,” Biden said.
